A college education can change your life, professionally and personally. People with college degrees make more money and climb the corporate ladder faster. More money can lead to a better quality of life for you and your family. Colleges online may be the fastest way to get your degree and speed up that promotion or raise.

That’s flexibility is one reason online college appeals to professionals interested in taking college courses. Distance students can choose their schedule and complete the course work when it’s convenient. That means the students can attend college and still fulfill their job and family obligations. It also means the student has to be disciplined and manage their time well. If you need more information about online universities, look on the internet.

Some people choose to finish their online bachelors degree in two years or less. Since in Internet-based college you go at your own, you can take as many classes as you want. If you can handle a heavy class load, you can earn your degree in half the time of a traditional four year college.

For those who really want to be on the fast track, there are accelerated degree programs. The information for these courses is condensed and so is the length of the class. These intense courses allow students to whip through a bachelors degree in two years instead of four. Or earn a masters in 18 months compared to two years. Students in accelerated programs may take one or two courses a semester instead of several at the same time.

If you are working, there are ways to get college credit for your professional experience. The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests you on what you already know. If you pass the test, you can earn between three and twelve college credits. That’s as much as a semester in college. At a cost of $72, CLEP is much cheaper than tuition for a semester. There is an abundance of information about on line degree programs on the web.

Some colleges offer college credit in exchange for work experience, allowing professionals to skip introductory classes in their field. For example, a business school in Minnesota offers students with professional marketing experience credit for undergraduate business courses if they pursue a marketing degree. These credits for work experience can shorten the time it takes to get a degree.

Professional students who want to go back to school have a financial aid option not available to traditional students. Some companies offer tuition reimbursement programs. That means your company pays for part or all of the cost of your education. There are also programs that offer employees a discount on college tuition. Your employer may be encouraged to foot the bill for your degree if it will make you a more valuable and productive worker.

Schools online have changed all that. Online college allows the student to set their own pace and take as many or as few classes as they want, enabling them to get their distance learning college at an accelerated pace.
