Online College Is A Good Option For Single Parents!

You see the ads whenever you go on the net. They claim that President Obama himself wants single mothers to go back to school. Thing is, when you peel through the layers of hype, the core of the message is true. The country’s chief executive has set up a program that actually helps single parents (not just mothers but dads, too) obtain college grants.
As it happens, the President has made a number of changes in financial aid packages, figuring online college are a good way for single moms and dads to do just that. With the help of online grants, these parents can get two-to-four year degrees just in time for the (hopeful) economic recovery.
This “education stimulus grant,” is part of the Pell Grant program. It can garner around $5,000 annual tuition, with the final amount based on previous education, the curriculum desired as well as financial need. Another program, the American Opportunity Tax Credit program, can set it up so the first $4,000 of higher education is free. For more informantion on pell grants for college, check the web.
Like all federal education grants, one must fill out a FASFA form to find out what they can get. If done correctly, they can even cover non-educational matters such as daycare, housing and other basic needs. A good way to start sourcing out these grants is to first decide what area you want to get an advance education in.
A good way to start sourcing out these grants is to first decide what area you want to get an advance education in. Then target the online schools that offer the right curriculum. Apply to those schools, and immediately introduce yourself to the institution’s financial officers. It’s this personnel’s job to help you obtain the single parent, and any other, grants they can get their hands on.
It is truly critical to realize that the federal government isn’t the only source for this kind of money. Your state and local governments have many programs, such as your local Lotto, raising funds for furthering education. The best way to find these grants is by visiting the counties family service or economic office. The unemployment office may also have state funded grants available to help single parents find a better paying job.
Another place to find out more about this is the website Grants.gov, which finds specific grants for many categories. Use “search grant opportunities” tool at the top of the page to see what grants are available. On the other hand, be very, very careful about those sites using the president’s name. What many will try to do is steer a needy student into spurious loans or similar situations. If you are looking for more information on money for college, you can research the internet.
Still, with the economy still in its doldrums, continuing one’s education with an online degree could be a very solid offer for a solo parent. If their need is great enough, they can stay home to watch their children AND get enough college grants and scholarships to afford to.

Their Holistic Health Practitioner courses are also quite expensive…they also do NOT help you get a job and have no internship program.
Global College of Holistic Medicine – They’re not an accreditation mill because they do offer a very small range of holistic courses, but, they too require you to mail in your tests, which can be painful and quite time consuming because you will have to wait for them to mail. your tests results back. Their Herbal courses are also shockingly expensive. They will NOT help you get a job after graduation and have do not have an internship program.

Nervous About Your First Year Of Online College?

Congratulations you have taken the first step towards getting your college degree online. Now it’s time to make sure you have all the tools and skills needed to make this first year of college a success. You should take advantage of the time you have before you start to get those study skills up to top shape. Often your high school has classes that can help you focus on any weak spots in your study habits. If this is not an option for you go ahead and contact your future school because many colleges offer study seminars or classes that help you brush up on many basic skills you will need. This way you can come into your first year much more confident in your study habits and more relaxed in your abilities to succeed.
Going to college is stressful for everyone. You are one of the lucky people, if you are going to school online, who does not have to worry about moving to a new place to go to school. The fact that you don’t have to change your surroundings does not mean that you should not make sure you have the right environment set up for you to succeed. Online colleges have their advantage but they also require more discipline by the student to make sure that when they are “in class” they position themselves in a quiet spot where they can concentrate.
A common mistake that online freshmen make is to assume that because they are at home there will be fewer distractions; in fact the opposite is true. Courses taken on campus are usually held in classrooms where the focus of the student is centered on the professor and their presentations.
At home you must set aside a work environment and tune out annoyances such as the neighbor’s music, barking dogs or the incessant ringing of the phone.
Many students who decide to go to school online enjoy the ability to build a study schedule around their needs. If you have children and other family obligations this may be the only way that you can get your education. Although the flexibility is a blessing, it may also be a curse. Often it is hard to “buckle down” and get your classes and coursework completed in a timely manner. It is very important to set aside the time needed each day to keep all of your studies on schedule. You may find it easier to leave the house so that you can keep away from the distractions your normal environment presents.
It is almost a necessity to buy a laptop if you are going to take classes online. This way you can move locations to find a quiet spot conducive to studying. There are many options but as long as you have a wireless connection you should be fine.
Take advantage of the fact that you are on-line and have your web browser, along with your word processor running in the background for quick access to references and note taking. If you are participating in a ‘live-feed’ situation where the course is being presented via webcam, where your participation is expected, then make sure that you are located in a quite space so that you can hear what is being asked. Sitting at a table in Starbucks can be relaxing but it is no place to be when you have to ask and answer questions on line!
It is important to realize that just because you are taking your classes online does not mean that you don’t have to have all the necessary school supplies. You should get your notebooks, textbooks pens and highlighters the same way you would for a normal class. You will need to print documents and papers too so having a good supply of paper and a working printer and ink is also important.
Congratulations on starting the first year of your online college degree. If you prepare now and work hard you should have a great overall experience and get everything you want out of your college education. Remember if you are falling behind or you don’t feel comfortable with something about your classes, make sure to bring it up to your advisor or a college representative as soon as possible. There are many ways that the school can help you have a more positive experience including tutoring and making adjustments to your schedule. Don’t be afraid to speak up and good luck.
Best Online College Courses: A Great Alternative To Traditional Universities

There are a lot of people out there who’d like nothing more than to go back to school. After all, another degree can mean a new and better paying job. Unfortunately, what keeps many people from pursuing further education is their inability to afford to quit their jobs so that they’ll have time to go back to school. You may also have other obligations on your time which make attending a traditional university difficult or impossible.
That is the best thing about online classes. Many schools now offer courses over the internet that you can take as your schedule allows. And you can do the work from home which means you do not have to take the kids to daycare. For those working full time, you can do your school work in the evenings so it does not interfere with your current job.
Of course, distance learning can be just as much of a challenge as taking any other college courses. You’ll have to work just as hard to earn your degree online as you would if you were attending any other college – but you can earn your degree on your own schedule.
Most people will find that they do have the time. It may mean skipping a few hours of television each week, but those hours spent on your class work will definitely pay off far more than keeping up with the latest season of “Survivor” or “American Idol”. I few semesters in school, working hard in the evenings can mean a degree which will move you forward in your career.
The job market is tougher than ever during this recession, and that means that employers have a bigger pool of applicants to choose from for every job. Those hours spent studying and gaining new skills through online courses will look great on a resume and will make you stand out amongst the other applicants for the job.
Distance learning can also save you money. You won’t have to pay for gas or other costs associated with commuting and if you have kids, you don’t have to pay for daycare either. Online courses are also less costly for the university to offer than traditional classroom based courses, so they tend to be less expensive than a traditional college course as well.
Many potential distance learning students will find that their employers will be willing to pay for the classes they are interested in taking. For others there are a variety of government loans and grants that can make education affordable. The government is increasing opportunities for students as an incentive for people to increase their skills.
Online college courses can help you to advance in your career or make you a more attractive prospect if you happen to be unemployed and looking for a new position. Especially in the midst of a recession, the more education you have, the better your odds of being able to find a better paying job or move up the ladder at your current employer. close Rewrite B | Word count 535 | highlight Online College Courses: A Great Alternative To Traditional Universities
